First misconception: You have to be Asian to dragon boat. Wrong.

We welcome anyone and everyone! No previous experience needed. Our first practice of each month is specifically geared towards new members or those interested in checking out what we do.

Dragon boating is a fun and alternative way to work out everything from your arms to your core to your back. The sport attracts a wide spectrum of skill levels and ages. It’s a great chance for team building, a social outlet and pushing yourself for competitions! It’s a great way to meet new people.

If you’re interested, just come out to one of our scheduled practices at Lady Bird Lake. We meet at the gray warehouses at the intersection of Trinity and Cesar Chavez (map).

You can now pay your fees online!

WHICH ONE IS FOR ME: PURPLE OR BLUE?

PURPLE TEAM

GOAL: be competitive at local races

  • Receive same training (technique & strategy) as the blue team.
  • No attendance requirements at practices – although if we have more than enough people, we will favor members who have better attendance for races.
  • May be a good first racing experience for people who join late in the season but want to be on the blue team.
  • For members who enjoy dragon boating, but either have limited time or this is not their primary interest.
  • Racing is based on attendance.

BLUE TEAM**

GOAL: be competitive at 100+ team regattas

  • REQUIRED: at least 65% attendance at water practices, starting 12 weeks before a race.
  • REQUIRED: fitness assessment/technique evaluation
  • Work towards technique perfection and constant fitness improvements.
  • Members work out on their own outside of practices.
  • Very hard pushing practices
  • Racing is determined mainly by best performance for the team – while no exact formula, up to 95% based on performance.

**While we do have you indicate whether you want to race on blue or purple team, the ultimate decision is up to the coaches. (i.e. If we have too many who meet the requirements of the blue team, we may ask individuals to race on the purple team, this decision will be made based on performance.)
